Crime thriller.

Many a times, I have fallen asleep while reading a book. Perhaps, the stories drag me in their world to make me feel the emotions and moments much closely. Last night also, I ended up falling asleep on the book I was reading and that’s when I entered a dark and dingy cell of a prison, with fellow lewd and fearsome prisoners. Their ignorant attitude towards me made me feel a bit odd. I wasn’t even sure if they can see me or not, so quite cautiously I stood up from my place, but none of them even raised an eye towards me, they were busy abusing the prison-guard and some other fellow prisoners. As I walked around a bit, being my clumsy self I stumbled upon a jalopy bench, and it creaked and moved a little, a few of them got cautious and looked towards me. I was screwed now, I shut my eyes close not wanting to bear their wrath, but nothing happened, I slowly opened my eyes and saw a lanky prisoner was staring right through me, and that’s when I realized no one can see me! I was just there to see the unfolding of the story with my eyes, just like some movie, I sighed and got excited. But just like in a blink of an eye, the scene changed and now I was standing near a middle-aged, furious prisoner. He was seething with anger for some reason, I stood near him quietly, we were perhaps near the rear exit of the jail, but how did he managed to reach there? he wasn’t even in the cell I was in? I was so confused, all of it seemed like some broken parts of a story. Also, why wasn’t any guard near this exit? as I was pondering upon the confusions in my head, the mid-aged prisoner looked around and went out of the gates, I followed behind. and once again, the scene changed. Now I was in an old cabin amidst the woods, and the prisoner/man I followed was standing beside me unaware of my presence and in front of us was an old man sleeping soundly on a couch, unwary of the danger lurking upon him. I got suspicious of what this terrible prisoner on loose might do, I wanted to warn the man on the couch, I wanted to save him, but before I could do anything the prisoner took out a pistol and aimed at the sleeping man. I looked around for some way to prevent this, but within a few seconds, I heard a loud sound of a bullet and then again, and the third bullet. I turned and it was blood all around, the walls had been painted with the blood of the man of the couch, and the shooter was standing with the gun still aimed at the now dead man. what now? I was in shock, I just saw murder in front of my eyes, and I let it happen! I was feeling miserable, I wanted to get out of here, but perhaps I was attached to the characters around me. so I waited for the terrible murderer to make his next move. But he stood there, in the same position, looking at the dead body, with no emotions on his face. After a few minutes, he removed his the gunpoint from the dead man and placed the gun on his own head, and in a fraction of seconds he pulled the trigger and there at my feet laid another dead body, the blood was flowing out like a fountain from the dead prisoner’s head, going under my feet and staining the floor of the cabin. what ! what the hell just happened? I just witnessed two brutal deaths in front of me and I don’t even know the reasons for them! why did the prisoner kill the sleeping man? and the why did he kill himself? and how will I get out of here? with a plethora of questions in my mind, I looked around and saw a picture of a man hanging on the wall, it was the same man who was now lying dead on the couch. what did he do? why did he got killed like this? just then I noticed a piece of paper slightly sliding out of the pocket of the dead middle-aged prisoner. It was a newspaper cutting, it read, “a middle-aged woman and her teenage daughter were stabbed in their own house in the bright daylight, while the husband couldn’t be reached or contacted, the cops are assuming that husband might have killed the two women and ran away . Nothing can be confirmed yet”. so, this prisoner had killed his own family? or was it someone else? did this man on the couch kill them? oh! so many questions . so many unanswered questions! and as I was clutching the newspaper piece in my hand, trying to understand the situation, when suddenly pitch darkness spread all around and with a jolt I woke up. Strangely, I was in my bed, I looked around and felt safe. The cabin was gone, the blood, the dead bodies, everything disappeared and I was back in my room. I looked around and realized that I was clutching a book in my hand. a crime thriller. and it dawned upon me, another dream! I plopped back on my pillow and buried my head in my hands. I’m not going to read anymore thrillers at night. I chuckled and laid down, but my mind had questions. but I guess they are for tomorrow.
