Monster under my bed

Tonight, I am going to stay awake,
waiting for the monster to wake up
when everyone else is asleep,
somewhere in the mid of the night
or perhaps at the hour right before dawn.
Monster? Yes, a monster lives under my bed,
the one I have been told stories of
since childhood, every night it comes
to drag me under the bed, in the dark
dire world where it resides.
And every night it takes a bit more
courage for me to fight it off

Tonight, I'm going to stay awake,
Asking that monster,
to come and consume me,
for I have no strength left in me
to fight anymore. At times I feel
the monster has already crept out
of the bed, and found a new home,
somewhere closer to me,
perhaps in my room, my phone’s contact list, 
my house or my life.

Tonight I am going to stay awake, 
calling for the monster,
I will invite it for a drink with me. 
And when we will be groggy enough
I will ask it what was the need
to pull everyone out of my life,
what did I do to deserve this abandonment, when did I open the doors for it enters my life, how could not I stop it while it was creeping under my bed, making a home for itself.
  
Tonight I am going to stay awake,
showing my gratitude to
the monster under my bed,
which was actually saving me from myself, which was frighting away
the scarier beings from hurting me.

Tonight I'm going to stay awake,
making love to my monster,
proposing it to consume all of me
Take a bite into my soul
with its sharp fangs and drink away my existence with its sour kisses,
for what began as a scary situation
is now a need for me,
this monster is an addiction now,
will it be wrong to say
I fell for my monster?

Tonight I will stay awake,
visiting my monster's place
to make it my home,
tonight I will stay awake,
and embrace loneliness
with all its sweet pain
and sour kisses
